SEASONAL Practice

In the practice of Japanese Ikebana, Autumn is not just a season, it is a teacher. Through crisp air, fading leaves, and ripening seeds, nature reminds us of impermanence, harvest, and rest. In this season of transition, Tiger Blossom invites members to create with intention, noticing beauty not only in bloom, but in decay, emptiness, and asymmetry.

This is the season of the quiet beauty found in “imperfection”, incompleteness, and impermanence.

Autumn Ikebana is not only visual, it is emotional and spiritual. As you gather your materials, consider the deeper meanings:

  • Letting go: Use withering leaves or broken branches as symbols of what you're releasing.

  • Gratitude and harvest: Feature fruits, pods, or berries to honor your own growth and abundance.

  • Introspection: Embrace simplicity and asymmetry to reflect your inner landscape.


In Japan, ikebana helps practitioners experience the changing seasons even when nature feels distant. In the seemingly non-seasonal California, your arrangement becomes the season itself, a portal to presence and connection.
